The Wellness of YOU! - # 161 - Sugar — It’s Not So Sweet!

posted in Nutrition and Weight Loss |

May I have a word with you?

If you were here recently, then you’ve heard this audio. The article for today is below. If you haven’t heard the audio, then ….

… Are your speakers turned on?

… Volume turned up? Good, now press the Play button.

Anyone who has been a reader of this blog for any length of time has witnessed my thoughts and admonitions about how addicted we are to sugar — and how harmful that addiction is for us and the children in our world. How often do we feed the people we love and respect some concoction filled with sugar in the hopes that they’ll be happier for it — without thinking whether they’ll be healthier for it.

I don’t know exactly what has me fired up about it again unless I’ve noticed that over the past few months I’ve been guilty of including too much of it in my diet — and seeing the results in the way my clothes are fitting and how I’m feeling. So this article is pointed directly at me — as well as you! We have to, somehow, get the picture — sugar is not so sweet when you see it for what it really is.

For starters, refined sugar, the kind we all use …

(1) is high in calories ..
(2) has zero nutritional value …
(3) has no fiber
(4) causes tooth decay
(5) is one of the culprits in obesity
(6) and is definitely implicated in diabetes.

Even after all the articles I’ve written about sugar and its effect on our health, we still have this terrible need to include it in our diets. I need to convince myself, and all of the readers of this blog that we have to get sugar out of our diets.

Take a look at what kind of damage we are causing, not only to ourselves and to our families and friends to whom we feed sugary desserts, but to the children who are on the receiving end of so many sugar-laden “treats” …

* Sugar weakens your immune system, and can even cause autoimmune diseases such as arthritis, asthma, and multiple sclerosis.

* It interferes with your body’s ability to absorb certain important minerals. This contributes to osteoporosis and other ailments.

* It “feeds” cancer cells and has been associated with breast, ovarian, prostate, pancreatic, lung, gallbladder, and stomach cancers.

* It can cause premature aging, increased oxidative stress from free radicals, a greater chance of Alzheimer’s, and the deterioration of eyesight.

* It can cause gallstones, appendicitis, hemorrhoids, varicose veins, and gastrointestinal problems.

* It can raise your blood pressure and increase your triglycerides and bad cholesterol while decreasing good cholesterol. Not surprisingly, sugar is known to cause atherosclerosis and heart disease.

* It can reduce learning capacity and even cause learning disorders. There is no doubt that sugar consumption adversely affects children’s grades in school.

Find ways to eliminate white sugar, brown sugar, fructose, and corn syrup from your diets. There are many safe, and natural alternatives on the market today to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Just say “NO” to sugar — it really has nothing to offer for good health.

Dear Friends,

I recently had the good fortune to be on a phone conversation with Neale Donald Walsch. What an inspiring interview this was with this best-selling author of the “Conversations With God” series of books. Maybe you’ve heard about him or his books. I’ll bet many of you have.

Neale Donald Walsch never wanted his life story to become a movie — but now it has — and it will be the featured film in the February 2007 DVD for the members of the Spiritual Cinema Circle, of which I am one. I encourage you to join me and become a member today so that you can have this wonderful film to keep and to share with your family and friends — CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD.

Neale Donald Walsch didn’t “ask” to write a book, let alone have a movie made about his life. He certainly had no intention of writing 22 books, or becoming the New York Times best-selling author of the “Conversations with God” series. Neale Donald Walsch was just a man down on his luck, out of answers, and in desperate need of help, who cried out to God.

And God answered.

In what became a series of late night “conversations,” God revealed himself to Neale in an utterly earth shattering way. Walsch posed an endless stream of questions about life’s mysteries and uncertainties, and just like that, God illuminated the answers, one by one, to all of Walsch’s desperate cries. Walsch filled dozens and dozens of legal pads recording these conversations, and their messages became the basis for an internationally acclaimed book series that has sold over 7 million copies and been translated into 34 languages, and now –— a major feature film — CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD.

CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD is an original production of The Spiritual Cinema Circle, a DVD club that delivers inspiring and uplifting films – features, shorts, and documentaries – directly to your door. The Circle finds fascinating films from festivals around the world…films that will open your heart, stir your soul, and expand your mind.

Now, members of The Circle are receiving CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD. as part of the February 2007 DVD which also includes three outstanding short films. For a limited time, new subscribers to The Circle can receive a free trial membership (you pay a minimal shipping fee) by visiting: http://www.spiritualcinemacircle.com/.

If there ever was a great time to do this, it’s today.

Shanti,

Ron

watched the movie version of Conversations with God recently and i appreciate the point that Neale Donald Walsch makes about having freedom to admit that he’s not perfect so he can move on from where he is.
