This blog is devoted to things on my mind. I may post often -- or -- I may not post for a couple of weeks. The content will be varied and this blog is not designed for search engines. It's just for us folks. Enjoy, and come back often. I'd also encourage your comments. Peace!

The Wellness of YOU! - # 146 - Supplement — Yes or No

May I have a word with you?

If you were here recently, then you’ve heard this audio. The article for today is below. If you haven’t heard the audio, then ….

Have you ever had anyone tell you that taking vitamins is just a waste of your time and money? Or, for that matter, has anyone ever said to you that taking ANY supplement is an exercise in futility? Well, if that has happened to you, don’t believe it!

As many of you know, I do promote nutritional supplements, particularly the Body Balance supplement that I take every day. As a result, I hear that refrain many times — “It’s a waste of your money, Ron!” And, in certain circumstances, I suppose that could be true.

If you and I were to eat a diet of wild, fresh, whole, organic, local, non-genetically modified food that’s grown in virgin mineral and nutrient-rich soils and not transported across vast distances and stored for months before being eaten — then yes — we could probably do without a supplement.

If you and I were to work and live outside, breathe only fresh unpolluted air, drink only pure, clean water, sleep 9 hours a night, move our bodies every day and were free from chronic stressors and exposures to environmental toxins — then sure, go ahead and forget about the supplements.

It would take a lot to convince any of us that most people live this way, right? In fact, more than 92% of Americans are missing at least one vital vitamin or mineral in their daily diets — and notice I said — “at least”. Believe me, most of us are missing a lot more than that.

In one study published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition, for example, researchers found that 6 percent of people studied were seriously deficient in vitamin C and 30 percent had borderline low levels of this important nutrient.

A USDA survey was even more alarming: It showed that 37 percent of Americans don’t get enough vitamin C, 70 percent don’t get enough vitamin E, almost 75 percent don’t get enough zinc, and 40 percent don’t get enough iron.

When I read studies like these, I’m convinced that most every person is lacking the basic nutrition they need for optimum health. Including a good vitamin and mineral supplement in your daily diet is crucial for preventing disease and promoting optimal health.

Once again, I recommend the product “Body Balance” to help you realize your nutrition and weight loss goals. See the box below for information on how you can receive a two-week supply on me. All you have to do is pay for the shipping.
