Lung Cancer – Part Nine and a Half

Lung Cancer – Part Nine 1/2 –
Something Different for Today
December 8, 2005

Hello to everyone …

Most of this article is going to be taken from the latest issue of the “Cancer Connections Newsletter”. As I have mentioned before, this newsletter is published on the average of once a month and covers some interesting topics.

Here are the opening comments from the publishers, Roger and Kathy Cawthorn.

Dear Fellow Survivors and Caregivers,

We are especially aware of how difficult this time of year can be for anyone facing a diagnosis of cancer, either our own or that of someone we love. Whether you are newly diagnosed, currently in treatment or many years out, we hope this newsletter serves as a reminder that you are never alone.

Our wish for you this season is that you are able to take a holiday from cancer, even if just for a few hours or a day. Savor the fellowship of loved ones and friends. Enjoy a special treat. Linger long over a beautifully wrapped package before opening it. Memorize all of the sights, smells, sounds and tastes of the season, but most of all, hold fast to hope.

Our prayer for you this season – and always – is peace,
and we keep you ever in our prayers for healing.

Roger and Kathy

And, here is a little more information about these remarkable people:

Roger and Kathy Cawthon (married 21 years and “joined at the un-hip” as their kids like to say) are both cancer survivors. Diagnosed within six weeks of each other nine years ago, they underwent more than a year of aggressive medical treatments to which they added their own complementary therapies of faith, humor, nutrition and exercise.

Four years after their diagnoses, Roger and Kathy completed the grueling 26.2-mile Marine Corps Marathon!

Today they travel extensively, speaking at cancer survivor celebrations, medical and pharmaceutical conferences, and at a variety of non-health related events as well.

I’ll be back in a short while with some more from this month’s newsletter.

By the way, you can subscribe to their newsletter at: http://www.thecancercrusade.com

Stay tuned — you’re gonna love it ….

Shanti.
