This blog is going to change it's focus. I'm going to be posting my Memoir/Novel called, Lost and Found, in a serialized fashion. I call it a 'Memoir/Novel' because it is the true story of my youth, but I've changed all names, including my own. There is a Table of Contents in the left sidebar. Just click the links to read from the beginning or to read any part you may have missed. I have added a New Chapter Notice Form on the right. Just leave your first name and email address and I'll let you know directly when there's a new chapter. I'd also love to hear your comments.

Be well -- Be in Peace!

Weight Loss Secrets- Continued

Whoops! I missed another day. I’m in the process of getting ready to move so that has me running around like a chicken with its head cut off — and a lot of that running around took me away from the computer.

So, I’ll see if I can make up for that by getting a couple of articles ready for you today. Even if I don’t make it for two today, please don’t let up on your own wellness, fitness and weight loss goals.

We’re discussing how to lose weight. Two thirds of Americans are overweight. Of those, 59 million of them are obese. If those claims made by the infommercials worked, then why are we in the shape we’re in?

Grueling exercise doesn’t work. Diet pills don’t work and can be dangerous to your health. Many diet programs clearly don’t work. And crazy weight loss gimmicks don’t work.

Okay, so now what?

The program I’m recommending to you is a proven, guaranteed no-nonsense weight loss method that has to work for you. It works with your body and with your body’s natural ability to function at the cellular level. With this program you could start losing 5-7 pounds each week and do it in a natural, healthy and easy way.

This program is called the Image Weight Loss System™ . This could be the last weight loss system you’ll ever need. This could be the way for you to achieve your goal of a slimmer, sexier, healthier you.

This system is the brainchild of Brad Callen, Fitness Consultant and instructor of the Image Transformation Weight Loss System™. You can discover more about this at:

I’ll get back here either later today or tomorrow when I’ll reveal even more information. Stay tuned.

Weight Loss Secrets- Continued

Two days ago we began a discussion of losing weight at the cellular level using a completely natural method of helping you to achieve your wellness, fitness and weight loss goals.

As I’m sure you have all discovered, one way or another, losing weight is one heck of a lot harder than it is to gain it, right? Shoot, putting the weight on was so easy we didn’t even notice it — just happens that one day we looked down and wondered where that spare tire around the middle came from. Yikes!

So here we are in today’s reality and we know we have to drop some pounds and we need find a way that works. The infomercials all keep telling you that all you have to do is take this or that pill — or drink this or that drink instead of eating regular meals — or buy this or that gadget to build up those tummy muscles — we hear this stuff over and over, “Do these things and in the next two weeks you’ll lose 30 pounds” — or some such claim.

The question is, how many people do you know that tried these products and had them actually work? The fact is that even if someone does lose that much weight that rapidly, the odds are that they either got sick, or they put it all back on again. The human body just isn’t designed to lose weight that rapidly and stay healthy at the same time.

What about all those exercise videos that you see on TV? Tried any of those? Did they work? Did the unwanted pounds and inches actually just melt away?

Listen, the one thing you need to understand is that if these things didn’t work for you, you’re not to blame. You’ve been lied to for decades. We live in this age where we expect everything to be instantaneous. We’re part of the “fast-food” generation. (Of course, that’s one of the reasons we’re so overweight!)

Weight loss is one thing that can’t be done fast. No matter what the fitness gurus and the infomercials tell you, losing weight fast just isn’t realistic. If you were told the truth about weight loss by these same gurus and infomercials, those businesses wouldn’t be around for long.

We’ll talk more about this tomorrow. In the meantime, to find out more about losing weight at the cellular level, go here: Click Here to Learn More About Brad Callen’s Weight Loss Method!

This will take you to a website owned by Brad Callen, who is a Fitness Consultant and instructor of the Image Transformation Weight Loss System™. I know you will find this very interesting information.

Of course, as you know if you’ve been reading my articles for any length of time, whatever method you use to help you to achieve your wellness, fitness and weight loss goals should always include eating right and getting plenty of exercise.

Until then, remember to follow a good-fat — good-carb diet and stay with your regular exercise.

The Wellness of YOU! – # 34

It’s Still About Sugar and Weight Loss

If you read yesterday’s postings to this blog, you’ll remember that we were just digging into the reasons why we have these cravings that are getting in the way of our wellness, fitness and weight loss goals.

So, here’s the question we raised yesterday …

What is going on with the seemingly insolvable craving for the foods that make us fat?

What’s really going on here?

Do you find that you tend to eat simple carbohydrates more frequently when you are upset about something? How about when you’re under some stress and you feel nervous? Do you grab for something sweet at those times? What about when you’re bored? Same thing? Do you find that you can’t seem to find anything to eat if there isn’t anything sweet handy? Do you ever catch yourself eating some sweet goodie and realizing that you are doing it without complete realization?

What’s really going on here?

Here’s another quote from Jonni Good’s Website! that I want you to read while we work on this question:

We eat the simple carbohydrates because these “foods” make us feel better. If you think about that statement for just a second, you’ll understand how this next statement relates:

Heroin addicts use heroin because it makes them feel better.

We also continue to eat simple carbohydrates after we know they’re killing us, because it feels bad when we stop.

Heroin addicts go on using because it feels bad when they stop.

Substitute alcohol or cocaine or tobacco, or even gambling, in the statements above, and you’ll understand what I’m getting at.

There’s the answer to the question, isn’t it?

Sugar and the other simple carbohydrates are addictive! And they are even more addictive because they are readily available; they are relatively cheap, and (other than websites or blogs like this one) there are very few social pressures to give them up.)

And, that’s why Americans are so overweight. That’s why we have a crisis in this country with obesity and the number of people getting diagnosed with diabetes. That’s why we have so many people suffering with heart problems and cancer.

How do you conquer an addiction? How do we find the willpower to turn this addiction around and begin living a healthy lifestyle?

We have to increase our willpower. We have to learn how to look at a big piece of chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and say, “no thanks”. We have to learn how to shop differently and learn how to pass by those stacks and stacks of sugar-laden foods and find the smaller stacks of the more complex carbohydrate foods. We have to learn how to stop thinking things like, “Since that box of white pasta is 10-cents cheaper than the box of whole wheat pasta, I better save the money and get the cheaper one. It won’t matter — it’s still pasta!”

We have to learn how to do these things and feel good about them!

Here’s another quote from one of Jonni Good’s readers:

Jessie wrote this:

“Jonni, I wanted to write and let you know that I really learned a lot from your book. You really made me see that what I always thought of as a personal failing was really just my own natural human nature, trying to live in a world that doesn’t exist any more. I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology and an ongoing interest in general science, and your points seem valid and well researched to me.”

It’s about building a stronger willpower, so you can succeed.

How often have you started on a good diet and then, slowly but surely, found yourself right back on the old unhealthy lifestyle? You tried to fight it, but slipping back was easier than staying with it. You went back even though you really didn’t want to.

It is possible to fix that problem.

One way to do that is to go check out what Jonni Good has to say about it.

It is possible, and it isn’t rocket science.

Something has to be done — and something can be done.

Go here:

Click Here to Learn More at Jonni Good’s website!

Get started right away. You’ll learn it’s truly possible to change your body, by changing your mind, one teaspoon of sugar at a time!

One last quote from another Jonni Good reader:

From Faith (the first person to read the book after it was finished) wrote:

“Exactly what I needed. Most of us know what we should be eating. But I spend a lot of time running in circles unable to concentrate on decisions at hand. Jonni’s book showed me how to be in more control of my thoughts and make more conscious decisions about what I eat.”

Well, that’s a wrap for today. I’ll be back tomorrow and we’ll embark on even more ways to get healthy, fit and lose weight.

Until then, remember to follow a good-fat — good-carb diet and stay with your regular exercise.

The Wellness of YOU! – # 33

And Still More About Sugar and Weight Loss

Hello — here we are again with more about the sugar cravings and how to combat them for the benefit of your wellness, fitness and weight loss program.

So why is it so hard to give up sugar and other simple carbs?

If you look at the numbers I showed you earlier, it seems like a no-brainer – it’s just about some simple math — give up your candy bar, your Starbucks latte with Italian syrup, your morning bagel — and you lose weight. Don’t give them up — and you gain weight.

Simple, huh? That’s not rocket science by any means, right?

Most people want to lose weight. There is no nutritional value in the candy, latte, bagel or whatever, so we really don’t need them to keep body and soul together. And, for sure, the money we spend on those things could be better spent on something with true value.

So just give them up.

Wouldn’t it be great if it was just that easy?

What would happen if you did?

Here’s another excerpt from Jonni Good’s website at:

For most people, (and that probably includes you), what would happen is a nice gradual and healthy weight loss, back to the weight your body is supposed to have.

Your chronic blood sugar level would go down, reducing the risk of heart disease, and some kinds of cancer.

Your clothes would fit better, and you’d soon have an excuse to go buy some new ones to show off your new, healthy body.

Your color would improve, you’d sleep better, and your mind would be sharper.

You may even have fewer mood swings.

You really do need to get over to Jonni’s website and do some reading over there, too. Here’s that link again:

Here’s another comment by one of her readers:

Kay wrote (some personal remarks have been edited out to protect her privacy):

“This more positive approach which looks more closely at the reasons we eat offers a fresh avenue of hope because you offer definite ways to rethink and cope.

I take vitamin supplements each day and have never been on any type of medication. My faith is strong and each new day is full of blessings. The walking meditation is wonderful – for some reason, I think a form of this has always been a part of my life. I tend to give my mind plenty of vacations and keep positive thoughts alive by thinking “stop” before a negative can take hold. It is a personal decision when we decide to think ‘in the moment’ about all the wonderful things life has to offer.

Nutrition and health are subjects that I truly enjoy and had I known this early enough in life I may have pursued a career in that field. As the PR/Membership/Program Development Director at our local Racquet Club and Fitness Center, I enjoy helping members learn the basics of tennis. This also gives me the opportunity to stress to new players the importance of fitness, nutrients, water and fresh, wholesome foods.

….the book is wonderful because the approach is about so much more than just the food.”

So, what is going on with the seemingly insolvable craving for the foods that make us fat? I’ll get back again tomorrow to delve into this further.

Until then, remember to follow a good-fat — good-carb diet and stay with your regular exercise.

Here is some information about the nutritional supplements I add to my wellness, fitness and weight loss program.
