This blog is devoted to things on my mind. I may post often -- or -- I may not post for a couple of weeks. The content will be varied and this blog is not designed for search engines. It's just for us folks. Enjoy, and come back often. I'd also encourage your comments. Peace!

Are You Invisible?

Are You Invisible?
December 4, 2005

For the past few days we’ve been discussing lung cancer. Those articles haven’t been something that we read and then come away feeling up and positive. Even though I do have more that I want to share with you about lung cancer in the coming days, I’d like to take a break today and just write what’s on my mind.

I hope my thoughts for today will leave you with a positive outlook about yourself.

How many times do you feel like you’d like to crawl under a rock and hide away from the world? You know, those times when you’d rather be invisible rather than let other people see you or notice that you exist.

I know it happens to me from time-to-time. One of the ways that it happens for me is when I just get weary of the way the world is going. When the news of the day is just one bit of awfulness after the other. Who is getting killed — who is getting attacked — what bad accidents are happening — what homes are burning down.

For some people the wish to be invisible will happen when they’re feeling hurt, or angry about something.

When you stop to think about it, though — when we hide and make believe we are invisible, we like to think that no one sees us — but in truth, we are really only hiding from ourselves. Even when we try to live as inconspicuously as possible, we end up being more conspicuous than usual because we aren’t truly fooling anyone — people can see that we’re trying to hide. It’s much more obvious than we think. Haven’t you ever noticed someone who is trying to be invisible? Usually you can spot them right away.

The fact is that none of us are meant to hide. We are all provided with a unique brilliance — a brilliance that shows who we are and what we’re doing on this planet. When we try to hide, we’re depriving the people around us of the special gifts and talents that we are here to share.

When we step out of the shadows and let our own special brilliance show, we are, in our own way, serving the planet. We each have a responsibility to contribute our gifts and talents. Even if we don’t feel like we have anything to share, we do. The only way to share is when we let ourselves be seen.

If we let our brightness show, it’s like a shiny mirror in which others can see their own brilliance reflected. When they see that in themselves, they will also cease to hide.

Share your gifts and watch your universe begin to glow with you.

Allow you soul to shine.

Shanti.
