This blog is devoted to things on my mind. I may post often -- or -- I may not post for a couple of weeks. The content will be varied and this blog is not designed for search engines. It's just for us folks. Enjoy, and come back often. I'd also encourage your comments. Peace!

An Ebay Scam to Avoid — Watch Out!

A New eBay Scam To Avoid

Lately I have been getting a lot of emails telling me an item I bought on eBay has been shipped. These are for items I didn’t buy.

Here’s an example:

**********************************************

Subject: Your eBay item has been shipped.

Message: I have shipped the following item to you. You should be receiving it shortly.

Item title: AMERICAN EAGLE ONYX MEN’S RING 10K $79
Web Address: (FAKE LINK TO EBAY VIEW ITEM PAGE HERE)
Item number: 5043587932
Seller User ID: jewelrypeople
Total: $79.00

Once your item arrives in satisfactory condition, please leave feedback for me. I will do the same for you. Thank you again!

*************************************************

I removed the fake link above, but if you click on the real link in the email you are taken to a fake eBay login page. These scammers are hoping to create curiosity and steal your account.

There is a page on eBay that tells you what the URL for the login page for your country should look like at: http://pages.ebay.com/help/confidence/isgw-account-theft-spoof.html

Familiarize yourself with the real URL or bookmark a page on eBay and always login from your bookmark. Protect yourself by never logging in from a link in an email.
