This blog is devoted to things on my mind. I may post often -- or -- I may not post for a couple of weeks. The content will be varied and this blog is not designed for search engines. It's just for us folks. Enjoy, and come back often. I'd also encourage your comments. Peace!

A Series on Alzheimer’s Disease

Hello again.

I’m about to start a series of articles on the subject of Alzheimer’s Disease. These articles will run over the course of the next month or so and I’ll be interweaving them with articles on other subjects as well.

One of my main interests is health and nutrition, so I expect that over the coming months I will write several articles based on aspects of that subject.

Now, I’m not a doctor or a health professional — so let’s clear that up right away. In fact, I think I better post a disclaimer here right away so we don’t have any misunderstandings. I’m just very interested in the broader subject of health and nutrition, and since I’m getting older, I’ve been doing a lot of research into more specific areas that relate to that fact.

I hope you enjoy these articles. My purpose in doing this is to offer the point of view of the average person, rather than the professional.

Here is the disclaimer:

Disclaimer

These articles were written with great care.  However, in spite of this, errors or omissions may occur.  These articles are provided "as-is", without any warranty whether expressed or implied.  All readers of these articles agree to use the information provided in these articles entirely at their own risk.

These articles should not be used as a basis for any form of diagnosis or treatment for any medical condition whatsoever – including Alzheimer’s Disease.

Always seek the advice of a professional medical doctor.

Okay, that’s done. Now, on with some introductory information.

Introduction

This article, and those that will follow contain information about Alzheimer’s Disease, including history, symptoms, effects, impacts, treatments, and research.

A Glossary of Terms used in these articles will be provided at the end of this initial article on a separate page.

Please note: It is very important that you, the reader, understand the difference between the general forgetfulness that often accompanies old age and the onset of Alzheimer’s.  It is perfectly normal for older people to exhibit forgetfulness and mild forms of some of the other symptoms of Alzheimer’s.  This does not in any way mean that they are in the early stages of the onset of Alzheimer’s, or that they will go on to develop a full-blown, extreme case of Alzheimer’s.  In addition, many other conditions can cause Alzheimer’s-like symptoms.  A diagnosis from a professional medical doctor is the only way to be sure.

Target Audience

These articles are intended to provide assistance and information to people who are interested in learning more about Alzheimer’s Disease, or who may be worried about the possible onset of Alzheimer’s, or the friends, family, or relatives of those who might suffer or be at risk of suffering from Alzheimer’s. As mentioned above, they are offered as a way to get a point of view from someone who is looking at the subject in the same as you.

Benefits of Reading These Articles

These articles provide clear and concise details of Alzheimer’s Disease, that would otherwise need to be obtained from a variety of sources, such as the internet, reference books, qualified doctors, and so on.
